10:24 pm - Entering the Fourth of July Week With a Bang
Late afternoon, July 1st. Beautiful, sunny afternoon. I'm cruising out Cornhusker towards 72nd with the Doctor Who season 3 CD in the player, my phone rings. It's Roxannne, who asks if my "slave driver boss" who is our mutual friend Suzanne, has let me out or not. Before I can answer her I feel a jolt and drop the phone. Yep, I got rear ended.

After pulling out of traffic and putting my flashers on, I manage to grab the phone out of the map pocket on the door where it conveniently landed. Rox was not on the phone any longer. I tried calling her and couldn't get her. Called Scarfman and Rox calls me back while I'm on the phone with him. Eventually I can get out of the car, it is rush hour on a busy street after all, and put Scarfman and Rox together so someone can come out where I am,, which is a good bit from home.

Checked on the other driver, she is ok. My bumper doesn't look bad at all. Call the accident in. Police show up with ambulance. Scarfman calls back, is on the way. Then need to tell EMS to call him back so he goes to hospital instead of accident site. Get it all straightened out. On goes the neck brace. I go on the back board and off we go to the hospital.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Sooz the slavedriver has left work and is heading home along the same path that I was taking. She sees my car. The other driver has now left, so she thinks "OH NO! Leah's had a diabetic thing happen!" Since at that point the cops seem to be trying to break into my car, she assumes that I passed out and they are trying to get me out. She stops. They tell her I'm fine but on my way to the hospital and then yell at her for blocking traffic. She calls Rox and gets the whole scoop from her. I'm probably not at the hospital yet.

Finally meet up with Scarfman at the hospital. He goes back to move my car and the cop comes in. "Do you have those doors that lock automatically?" she asks. "Uh, yeah" says I. Somehow they managed to lock my keys in the car, which is why they were trying to break into it when Sooz drove by. I find this out from Sooz later. She asks if my husband has gotten there. I tell her he's gone to move my car. She grabs my cell phone out of my purse and says "call him, we've already moved it. It's at the gas station."

Call Scarfman. He's already figured that out, since he got there and my car was gone. Fortunately, he thought to look at the gas station. Since it didn't look hurt very much at all he decided to leave the jeep and take the car.

He gets back. I have whiplash and they've given me Vicadan so I'm really mellow and watching the crab fisherman on the Deadliest Catch. I like that show. Captain Phil was getting his ribs bandaged up after getting slammed into some furniture during a storm. Thought it was an appropriate episode.

So my bumper is kinda cracked. My neck and the back of my head hurts. My shoulders don't feel so hot either. Especially right now. I'm going to go take more Vicadan and go to bed.
